It is March 30th and it’s about time I started to get in shape for the summer! The absence of my conditioning coach-Guru Rett Larson and his Performance Corps has made it almost impossible for me to stay in shape recently. The fact that it is Tax season and I am a tax accountant isn’t helping either as I am very busy with that (which is a good thing :-)). Tomo San has been very busy as well with his beautiful 6-month-old twin girls and Sunday mornings is proving to be the best time for us to get in a good workout. Liberty Park in Cerritos is a great location with its nice sand courts and clean and peaceful surroundings.

The workout lasted only about an hour but it was filled with different exercises borrowed straight from the Performance Corps routine with minimum down time. Over the last couple years I have been building up my “toy chest” as coach Rett would call it and namely kettle bells, resistance bands of different sizes, agility ladder, weighted vest, cones and more. Tomo10Today we stressed on acceleration with a resistance band while pulling a partner and a lot of changes of direction. We did a bunch of those and varieties with one-legged hops and pure sprints. Then we did speed-skater jumps and sets of volleyball related block jumps with defensive pull from the net followed by an attack. We finished the practice with an obstacle course combining all the previous exercises. You can see from the photos (courtesy of Kristen – thanks!) how much fun we were having, especially Tomo!

Till next time!
